Two Basic Principles to Lower Inflammation and Pain

Conventional medicine views autoimmune as a genetic disorder and the governing principle is you can only treat your symptoms as things continue to progress and get worse for the rest of your life. Now it is true that there is a genetic component in the development of autoimmune diseases. However, Autoimmune conditions are diseases of the immune system. The immune system has a weak link, and your environment and lifestyle choices play a pivotal role in the suppression or activation of the autoimmune condition. Therefore, the more significant threat comes from your environment and/or lifestyle choices, which manifest as gut dysfunction, food sensitivities, overload of toxins, pain, infections, chronic fatigue, rashes, brain fog, and other distresses, etc. By getting to the root cause, you can reverse or put in remission autoimmune conditions and live a pain-free, happy life again.


So the best question to ask is what causes your immune system to go rogue? Basically, we can narrow it down to two underlying causes:


1. Impaired Gut Function


It all begins with your digestive system. As you have probably heard, “you are only as healthy as your gut is healthy”, this is in reality very true, because the health of your gut impacts every other aspect of your health, from your skin to your brain, to your immune system and every cell of your body. If your gut isn’t healthy, you cannot have a healthy immune system, because more than three-quarters of your immune system resides in your digestive system.


The intestinal walls are lined with little hair-like projections called microvilli, by which over 90% of nutrients are absorbed. But the high-fat, high-sugar, heavily processed, low fiber, low water content diet so prevalent in the Western world, causes these nutrient-absorbing hair-like projections to be matted down and no longer able to function properly. Then we add in GMO (genetically modified organism) foods (also known as bioengineered ingredients) that create little tears in our intestinal walls and can eventually result in leaky gut syndrome.


Things that are supposed to stay in gut leak out and are recognized by your immune system as foreign invaders, sending your immune system on high alert and triggering a massive rise in inflammation to fight off these “invaders”. This continual strain on your immune system eventually causes it to go haywire and begins attacking your own tissues by mistake. This makes leaky gut one of the most common (often unrecognized) causes of autoimmune disease.
