Steamed Beets
Yields: 3 1/2 cup servings
Ingredients:
3 cups fresh beets, peeled, sliced or diced
1 cup water
½ cup onion, sliced or diced
1 teaspoon onion powder
1-2 Tablespoons fresh dillweed or 1-2 teaspoons dried dillweed
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1-2 Tablespoons lemon juice. optional
1-2 Tablespoons honey, optional
Directions:
Prepare beets and add to a medium saucepan.
Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover, and steam for 10-20 minutes until beets are tender.
Quick Tip:
Use two 15-ounce cans of beets and follow the rest of the recipe; omit salt. Freezes well.
