Tasty Tuesday-Steamed Beets

Steamed Beets

Yields: 3 1/2 cup servings


  • 3 cups fresh beets, peeled, sliced or diced

  • 1 cup water

  • ½ cup onion, sliced or diced

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder 

  • 1-2 Tablespoons fresh dillweed or 1-2 teaspoons dried dillweed

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder 

  • ¼ teaspoon salt 

  • 1-2 Tablespoons lemon juice. optional 

  • 1-2 Tablespoons honey, optional


  1. Prepare beets and add to a medium saucepan.

  2. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.

  3. Reduce heat, cover, and steam for 10-20 minutes until beets are tender.

Quick Tip:

Use two 15-ounce cans of beets and follow the rest of the recipe; omit salt. Freezes well.
