A POWERFUL and FREE Healing Force Present Near YOU!

What is a life-sustaining element that has been used for centuries internally and externally as a powerful force for healing, rejuvenation, and restoration, and to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being? You can drink it, bathe in it, hot and/or cold, and even breathe air close to it, as well as listen to its movement, for therapeutic effects. What is it?

You guessed it: Water! In this blog, as promised, we’ll explore the profound healing properties of water, including drinking, bathing, listening to natural flowing water, breathing the air around flowing water, and hydrotherapy techniques.

Water: Foundational for Health

Proper hydration is essential for every bodily function. Drinking adequate water supports digestion, circulation, temperature regulation, and detoxification. Studies show that proper hydration improves cognitive function, boosts energy levels, and enhances overall health. Water helps flush toxins from the body, supports kidney function, and keeps skin looking vibrant.

Bathing: Relaxation and Renewal

Bathing is more than just a cleansing routine—it’s a therapeutic experience. Warm baths can soothe sore muscles, reduce stress, and improve circulation [for an extra benefit try adding 2 cups of Epsom salts to your next bath]. Cold baths, on the other hand, can invigorate the body, boost immunity, and enhance mental clarity. Cultures worldwide have embraced bathing as a healing practice, from Roman baths to Japanese onsens (hot springs).

The Sound of Water: Nature’s Stress Reliever

Listening to the gentle flow of a babbling brook or the rhythmic waves of the ocean have a calming effect on the mind. Research suggests listening to natural water sounds can lower stress levels, improve focus, and enhance sleep quality. The soothing nature of water sounds is often used to promote mental well-being.

Negative Ions: Positive and Profound Healing Properties

Commonly generated by waterfalls, ocean waves, moving water, and even thunderstorms, negative ions—those invisible, energized particles—are believed to help purify the air and improve mental clarity. Research suggests that exposure to negative ions may boost serotonin levels, leading to reduced stress, improved mood, and enhanced overall vitality. Additionally, they are thought to support respiratory health by reducing airborne pollutants and allergens, making breathing easier and more refreshing. Many people experience an uplifted sense of energy and tranquility when surrounded by negative ions, which is why places like forests, beaches, and mountains often feel so rejuvenating.

Hydrotherapy: Harnessing Water’s Healing Potential

Hydrotherapy, the therapeutic use of water, has been practiced for centuries. It involves using water’s temperature and pressure to stimulate circulation, relieve pain, and promote healing. Hydrotherapy treatments range from hot and cold baths to aquatic therapy and steam baths.

Contrast Showers: A Simple Hydrotherapy Treatment

Contrast showers involve alternating between hot and cold water to stimulate circulation and boost recovery and help with remission of autoimmune conditions when done on a daily or twice daily basis. Here’s how to do it:

  • Start with Warm water: 100°F–104°F (38°C–40°C) for 3-4 minutes.

  • Switch to Cold water: 46°F–50°F (8°C–10°C) for 30-60 seconds. (If you do not like cold, when beginning a hydrotherapy routine, start with using cool water: 75°F (24°C) and gradually decrease the temperature over a couple week period until you can get to the therapeutic coldness).

  • Repeat the cycle 3-7 times. (If 3 cycles do not help you feel more alive and joints functioning better, continue a few more cycles until you start feeling better. For autoimmune or to speed recovery consider doing this morning and evening.)

  • Always end a contract shower with cold water for maximum benefits.

Switching between warm and cold water improves blood flow and circulation detoxification, reduces muscle soreness, speeds recovery, and enhances immune function. Hydrotherapy is widely used by athletes and wellness enthusiasts to accelerate recovery and promote overall health.

When our daughter, Dawn, at three months of age was given the diagnosis Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia, Marty said, “Dawn and I can’t both be sick.” And from that day forward he started contrast showers. He was never sick during the rest of Dawns life. But I got sick almost as often as Dawn was sick – which was quite frequent.

A few months after Dawn passed away, I got sick and was in bed for three weeks. I thought my health was gone forever. After recovering, I started doing contrast showers and now am rarely sick.

Since water is a natural remedy given to us by God, it would do us well to ask Him to add His blessing before employing the natural remedy and also after we have employed the remedy, thanking Him for His blessing.

God says, “Ho, everyone that thirsts, come to the waters, and he that hath no money; come...without money and without price…Incline your ear, and come unto Me: hear, and your soul shall live.” Isaiah 55:1-3.

What waters is He inviting us to partake of? Christ exclaims, “If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believes on Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of Living Water.” John 7:37.

And the conclusion of the matter is: “And He said unto me, It is done! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that thirsts of the Fountain of Water of Life freely. He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.” Revelation 21:6-7.

Would you like to drink from the Fountain of Water of Life?

It’s yours for the asking.

Blue Skies,

Dana West, RDN, LD, ACLMDIP
