Our goal is to help you achieve your best health by helping you put knowledge into action, embrace health, and conquer disease.
I recently read the chapter called “Mind Cure” from the Book Ministry of Healing. I thought I would share with you in this blog some of the most powerful quotes for healing body, mind, and soul from the chapter:
Mind and Body Connection
“The relation that exists between the mind and the body is very intimate. When one is affected, the other sympathizes.”
“The condition of the mind affects the health to a far greater degree than many realize.”
“Many of the diseases from which humans suffer are the result of mental depression.”
“Grief, anxiety, discontent, remorse, guilt, distrust, all tend to break down the life forces and to invite decay and death.”
“Courage hope faith, sympathy, love,
promote health and prolong life.”
“A contented mind, a cheerful spirit, is
health to the body and strength to the soul.”
“The power of the will is not valued as it
should be. Let the will be kept awake and
rightly directed, and it will impart energy to
the whole being and will be a wonderful aid in the maintenance of health. It is a power also in dealing with disease. Exercised in the right direction, it would control the imagination and be a potent means of
resisting and overcoming disease of both mind and body.”
Think Well, Be Well
“Nothing tends more to promote health of body and of soul than does a spirit of gratitude and praise. It is a positive duty to resist melancholy, discontented thoughts and feelings – as much a duty as it is to pray.”
“It is a law of nature that our thoughts and feelings are encouraged and strengthened as we give them utterance. While words express thoughts, it is also true that thoughts follow words.”
“One of the surest hindrances to the recovery of the sick is the centering of attention upon
themselves…what they need is to have their attention turned away from themselves, to think of and care for others.”
The Healing Remedy
“Good deeds are twice a blessing, benefiting both the giver and the receiver of the kindness.”
“The consciousness of right-doing is one of the best medicines for diseased bodies and minds.”
“If those who are suffering from ill-health
would forget self in their interest for others;
if they would fulfill the Lord’s command to
minister to those more needy than
themselves, they would realize the
truthfulness of the prophetic promise, ‘Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily.’ Isaiah 58.”
This makes me think of an individual who
came to our health retreat. Their story goes as follows:
“I had made some very significant and stressful changes in my life. I moved to a new state, left my adult son and big family behind, started a new career, a new job, and moved back to my childhood hometown where my father had been killed by a drunk driver. There were constant painful memories all around me. To top it off, my two dogs died 7 months after my arrival.
“I drank every night and on every day I was off. I smoked like a train. I didn’t talk to anyone and didn’t go anywhere. My lawn went uncut for more than 6 weeks, and the grass was 3 feet high. I didn’t care. I was absolutely, unequivocally depressed. I made several pitifully unsuccessful attempts to get back on my feet. Finally I accepted the fact that I needed help. I wanted to make it to the finish line this time with a feeling of freedom and peace for which I was so desperately hungry.
“So, I called Dana and met her at her office. We drove to Sunny Dawn Acres, where she hosts her Start a New YOU!® Health Retreat. Sunny Dawn Acres is absolutely beautiful and peaceful! I needed that. I also needed someone who could help me meet my goals and that someone needed to be able to walk with me at my pace, accept my fears of change, my fears of relapse, my pain, and my absolute utter depression. She was all that and more. Every step of the way she was supportive, by my side, and leading. Whenever I needed to physically or mentally stop and regroup, she stopped right along with me. She was quiet and unobtrusive, encouraging and honest, at just the right times.
“I struggled the first day or so but then she used the word “Cooperate” when referring to God and changing my thought patterns. Suddenly, the cliché of “giving your heart to God” had some meaning; there was something tangible I could do. I realized that I was praying for help to quit smoking but I was not cooperating with Him. I was allowing my thoughts to linger on cigarettes and other thoughts that made me sad, lonely, or depressed. Instead, I learned that to cooperate with Him meant I could immediately change my thoughts toward Him and have positive thoughts. This was so encouraging for me because I so wanted to be able to think of my dogs, my son, my dad, and my family back home. But I just wanted to cry when I thought of them. Then I realized, “Wow, I can think of them as long as I think about the good times.” I learned to accept God’s forgiveness for the things I regretted, seek the truth regarding the things that caused me pain, and give it all to God. Now THIS was Absolutely Liberating in EVERY sense of the word! I was and still am absolutely thrilled.
“God wants to work with me, to perform miracles of change in my life. I tell Him I want to cooperate with Him to remain smoke-free and pain-free. I also want to cooperate with Him so I am available to help people as a medical provider actually heal rather than just use medicine. Dana pointed out that it has been scientifically supported that depression and anxiety cause osteoarthritis and osteoporosis; hmm, who knew?
“I FEEL Great! My entire experience with Dana at the Sunny Dawn Acres was one that has changed my life in a way that I have always dreamed. I am grateful for her and that SHE has cooperated with God to make her dreams come true and now I am doing the same.”
