Tasty Tuesday - Cherry Vanilla Oatmeal

Cherry Vanilla Oatmeal

Yield: 3 1½-cup servings


  • 1½ cups water or plant-based milk

  • ¾ cup old-fashioned oats

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon ginger


  1. Bring water or milk to a boil.

  2. Stir in oats and next three ingredients.

  3. Return to a boil. Turn off heat and cover.

  4. Let sit for 10 minutes or to desired consistency.

Ingredients for Toppings:

  • 1½ cups Cashew Pear Topping

  • 1 cup cherries, pitted, fresh or frozen

  • 3 Tablespoons coconut, shredded

  • 3 Tablespoons Roasted Pecans, chopped

  • 3 Tablespoons hemp seed


  1. Add Cashew Pear Topping and cherries to oatmeal and stir.

  2. Top each serving with other desired toppings.

  3. Serve! Bon Appétit!

Quick Tips:

Freezes well. Will need to stir before serving.


Use steel-cut oats and increase water to 3 cups.

Try ¼-cup dried cherries in place of fresh or frozen cherries.

Cashew Pear Topping

Yield: 6 ½-cup servings


  • 2 small fresh pears

  • 2 Tablespoons raw cashews

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 Tablespoon honey, optional


  1. Remove core from pears.

  2. Place all ingredients into blender and blend.

  3. If needed add 2-4 Tablespoons water, juice or plant-based milk and blend until very smooth.

  4. Pour over hot cereal.


Can be frozen but may need to be re-blended

Roasted Pecans

Yield: 6 ¼-cup servings


  • 1½ cups pecans


  1. Spread pecans in a single layer on baking sheet.

  2. Bake at 275℉ for approximately 30 minutes.

  3. Allow to cool. Store in airtight container.
