Tasty Tuesday-Stewed Apples & Pears


Stewed Apples and Pears Yield: 5 ½-cup servings


Ingredients:

  • 1 (15-oz) can pears in their own juice

  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced thin

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1½ Tablespoons tapioca flour

Directions:

  1. In a small mixing bowl drain juice off pears into a container to use later. Slice pears.

  2. Prepare apples.

  3. In a medium skillet combine prepared apples, pears, cinnamon, and 2 Tablespoons pear juice.

  4. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. Dissolve flour in remaining pear juice, stir with a whisk until all lumps are gone.

  6. Pour over simmering fruit and stir until thickened and fruit is tender.

  7. Enjoy and Bon Appétit!

Hints: Freezes well. For sweeter fruit, add 1-5 Tablespoons maple syrup. Nutritional Facts per ½-cup:
